This is the display of daily paintings on the wall of my studio. Daily paintings are so versatile. They can be hung as small groups when you start your collection and later as a whole wall area as your collection grows. This group of paintings can be seen individually on my website www.kathleendaughan.com. Just click on the portfolio link on the left and then on the daily paintings section. Better still, stop by the studio and see them for yourself.Wednesday, May 18, 2011

March Facebook Painting Challenge

This month I'm participating in the Facebook painting challenge. My personal goal is to finish as many paintings as possible. Most of them will be posted on my website rather than on this page. So hop over there and click on the portfolio link. So far the paintings have been watercolor pieces so click on watercolor to see these particular pieces. www.kathleendaughan.com will get you there.

Watercolor Sketches
Some of my daily paintings for the near future will be watercolor sketches made at Gilsland Farm Audubon Sanctuary in Falmouth, Maine. It's another one of my favorite spots and I've decided to paint a 4 season series of the meadow. I live near by and will make these watercolor sketches as often as I can get over there in preparation for the oil paintings. I'll post them here and on the website. The one above is obviously the first in this series. I'll still be doing the art squares and I'll post those here as well.

Daily Paintings start again in January

These are 3 daily paintings that I finished in December. They are framed together as a triptych and can be seen at Fore Street Gallery in Portland, or you can see them on line on my website: www.kathleendaughan.com. Otherwise I've been busy moving into my new studio at Lucid Stage. I'm all set now to start up the daily paintings in mid January. Stay tuned. Meanwhile you can see a number of the daily paintings over on the website. Go to the portfolio link and then scroll down to daily paintings. Wishing everyone happy holidays and a wonderful New Year.

Autumn Marsh

Not making much progress on the November daily paintings. Too much going on. The others have decided to stop the marathon this month. I'll do what I can. This was painted a couple of weeks ago at Sheepscot Marsh. The marsh was glowing in the autumn sun. You can see more fall paintings on my website: http://www.kathleendaughan.com/

Day 5 November Facebook Marathon
Three Radishes, 4x4, oil on cradled birch panelI was feeling very guilty that this is day five of the marathon and I had only completed one painting. It's been so gloomy here. Now the sun is coming out and I managed to get one painting done today. So I'm not too far behind thanks to FB friends who are urging me on. I hope to finish 30 by the end of the month. The radishes is number 2. Paintings can be purchased on my website: www.kathleendaughan.com. Pricing is over on the righthand side bar.

Day 1 November Facebook Painting Marathon
Recently I drove up to a wonderful farm we have near Portland called Pineland. Every kind of fresh veggie, all locally grown and organic. This was an especially nice red pepper that caught my eye. Of course I had to paint it. It was hard to fit this pepper on a 4x4 panel. The folliage in New Gloucester that day was stunning. I love to ride in the country in the fall.

Facebook Challenge day 1
Today is day one of the painting challenge. I decided to stay with today's theme of Richmond Island. The challenge is about learning and growing, so I'm using a small panel with a big brush. You can purchase this painting on my website: www.kathleendaughan.com

Passages, Wolfe Neck 2
Here's a tiny piece I did at the Wolfe Neck paintout a couple of weeks ago. I've become (once again) fascinated by the passages between the islands of Casco Bay where I live. I'm calling this summer series "Passages". You can see more paintings on the main page of this blog and on my website: www.kathleendaughan.com
